British Standards
There are two types of British Fittings – British Standard
Pipe Parallel (BSPP) and British Standard Pipe Tapered (BSPT). British fittings are commonly used in the UK,
France, Japan, Scandinavia, and British Commonwealth countries such as New
Zealand, India, and Australia.
BSPT: BSPT male
fittings have tapered threads.
BSPT male
couplers can mate with female BSPT and BSPP couplers.
When male fittings mate with female fittings,
the seal is made on the threads.
Just as
with BSPP, BSPT fittings are similar to, but not interchangeable with NPTF
fittings.
Once again, NPTF couplers have
a 60
°
thread angle and BSPT fittings have a 55° thread angle.
